We are aware that some patients are still experiencing problems with the phones; we have eight lines and extra lines for the staff to dial out on.   On March 2nd 2015 we handled 1,988 calls and during February 16,198 calls.   If you get the engaged tone all the 8 lines are busy and the reception and admin team are dealing with the calls as quickly as they can.

We are also in consultation with our telephone provider to see how we can improve the system. Thank you for the positive feedback that we have received since we introduce the queuing system.

Non Attendance of Appointments

During February we had 390 people not arrive for their booked appointments.  This equates to 6.5 hours of GP or nurse time.

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please can you let us know, so as we can offer it to someone else who needs to consult with one of the clinicians.

If you have returned from West Africa within the last 21 days and have a temperature /flu like symptoms - please telephone the surgery for advice - DO NOT COME INTO THE PRACTICE AND DO NOT TOUCH ANYONE ELSE

red_pills_bottleRepeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions cannot be taken over the telephone, as this can lead to mistakes with specific wording and dosage. It is important for us to eliminate the possibility of error, this safeguards you as the patients.

This change is in line with other local practices. Repeat prescriptions will be processed in 2 working days. We will take repeat prescriptions over the telephone for patients who are immobile/housebound or terminally ill,

A box is available in the reception area for repeat prescriptions to be placed in.

URGENT Requests

We are now unable to provide urgent on the day requests - it is the patients responsibility to ensure they order their medication in good time.  If you cant get into the surgery, then you can order online; if you have lost your slip then please drop your details along with the names of the medications you need into the surgery or order online.  If you have no medication left, if you take your empty boxes to your regular pharmacist, they will issue a three day supply or a number of medications can be purchased from the pharmacist.

Online Prescriptions

This is for routine prescription requests only, as the mailbox will only be checked once a day.  Please do not send any medical questions via this form.

Please visit the Poplar Grove website for the New Online form
