Outbreak of Salmonella Newport

Whooping cough cases increase

Cases of whooping cough (pertussis) reported to the Health Protection Agency (HPA) in England and Wales have more than doubled from 421 cases in 2010 to 1040 in 2011. Increases in levels of whooping cough are seen every three to four years and figures in 2011 are in line with cases reported in the last peak year of 2008.

The District Nurses are now being working from a central base and will cover localities, so we have no named nurse working at the surgery anymore. To contact the DNs please ring 01296 564306, your call will be taken by a member of the team and passed on to the appropriate nurse covering the area that you live in. Please do not call the surgery, to leave messages for the DNs, as they no longer call in on a regular basis
